Adult Activities

Kathryn Gauthier, Adult Activities Coordinator, and a cast of artists, story-tellers, community residents and Good News staff provide adult activities and outreach to families residing at our single room occupancy hotel and housing co-ops. We hope that we can provide a social community for our residents in which friendships can flourish and lives can be enriched.

Our program consists of educational and recreational outings which typically include a group of ten to twenty residents taking a trip and enjoying a meal together. Past outings have included visits to the DuSable Museum of African American History, Museum of Science and Industry, movie theatre and bowling alley. Another program ministers to the artistic talents of residents providing craft workshops and gardening. On many Saturdays residents can be found participating in art workshops - creating Christmas wreaths, picture frames, telling stories or beautifying the building.

Each of these programs help to broaden horizons, stimulate minds, and perhaps most importantly build community within the Good News Partners family.
