| Community and Spiritual Development In the best understanding of church and extended family we work together, often under the guidance of our ordained staff, in spiritual formation, adult activities, Bible study, counseling and drug rehab. We work with several other community groups in advocacy for better housing, education, and opportunities for work, small businesses and leadership. Education Education programs include our Reading Coaches Program, located at Gale Academy. Through this 8-year-old in-school morning tutoring program, struggling young readers learn the joy of reading as they acquire the needed phonic and oral fluency skills to read at grade level by third grade. In addition Good News Partners operates an after-school program that meets from 2:30 to 5:30 pm Monday through Friday. The program focuses primarily on providing homework support. Volunteer tutors are needed for both programs. Employment Training and employment in hotel operations, maintenance, building renovations and construction. |
