Volunteer Opportunities

At the Good News Partners, we affirm each person’s gifts and do our best to build partnerships to fulfill one of the promises of Pentecost--the Holy Spirit empowering God’s people to live together in such a way that everyone contributes to meeting everyone else’s needs. We demonstrate God’s love by being a joyful community, focusing our work on housing and supportive services. We hope that God is calling you to join Good News partners, along with more than 1000 other volunteers. Prayer Chain
Join the Good News Partners e-mail prayer network and pray with Good News Partners residents, sharing their concerns, joys, and hopes. This is a great way to stay informed about Good News Partners’ ministry. E-mail us at bud@goodnewspartners.org

Saturday and Sunday Kids Time
Volunteers lead fun activities, share Bible stories, play games and provide snacks for neighborhood children one Saturday morning or Sunday afternoon a month.

Camp Counselors
Travel with Good News Partners staff and youth to Tennessee for week-long camping trips in June and August.

Tutors
The volunteers of Reading Coaches, located at the neighborhood elementary school, work mornings with first graders. After school, other volunteers tutor children at the Jonquil Hotel learning center. Volunteers tutor adults working on a GED or learning English, or lead an ESL conversation group at Esperanza Latina coop.

Adopt a Family
Churches and church groups adopt a family, being extended family with them.

Building and Landscape Volunteers
Throughout the year, church groups and individuals landscape, paint, clean, and renovate buildings. This gives churches an opportunity to develop on-going relationships with residents and continuity in its ministry.

Short-term Mission
Groups and individuals interested in short-term mission opportunities can spend anywhere from a day to a few months in ministry.

Administrative Volunteers
Help with one-time mailing "parties," special events, office support, and data entry.

Professional Volunteer Opportunities
Good News Partners professionals volunteer their expertise: Accountants, Business Professionals, Photographers, Carpenters, Computer Experts, Dentists, Electricians, Family Counselors, Lawyers, Physicians, Plumbers, and Telephone Technicians.
